Wife NOT for trade!

Nothing hurts so much as when one of your favorite hockey players is traded to a different team. Sherri suffered that hurt yesterday and is still hurting, when she found out that her favorite Ottawa Senators player, Marian Hossa had been traded to the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for Danny Heatley. Now don't get me wrong, Danny Heatley is by no means my favorite player, but I won't get into that. Suffice to say, my hockey jury is out and won't make any decisions until I see what we got for our money.

No matter how much you loved Marian Hossa, you do have to see, that at the end of the day it's all money. He wanted more and the team didn't have it to give. If he'd have agreed to less, he would no doubt still be an Ottawa Senator player.

Out of all this, I have to take a step back to look at my wife and go "Wow". Yes, she's upset, but you have to agree that her passion for the game is undeniable. And it's not just for the game that she has this passion....... I am a lucky, lucky man.

Weekend Update!

So my Cousin Cathy and Mervyn flashed through Ottawa in what seems like an instant. They came back on Wednesday afternoon, after having spent the morning on a bus tour of Ottawa. They didn't realise the ticket was valid for 2 days, so gave it to Alanna to take Tamara our on the following day, which they did. It's amazing how you can live in a city and be blown away by things that are right under your nose all the time.

Wedneday night, Sherri took cathi and the girls out for a bit of shopping and came back with tons of food to cook on the barbecue, along with stuff to make some really nice salads. The only downside was that we didn't get to eat until about 10pm I think it was, but never mind, it's always great to have company.

I still haven't managed to get my PC fixed. It appears not to be a power supply problem, but a memory problem. As soon as I get some more memory, I'll see if I can get the damn thing fixed. In the meantime, I'm going to try to update the family website, using the portable to produce a couple of new photo albums, specifically pictures of the christening. I'm got lots of stuff to fix on our family website and am going to try to bite the bullet soon and fix them. However that's easier said than done, so please be patient with me.

On Thursday the weather took a decided turn for the worse. In fact it's been colder over the last few days than it has been all summer. I woke up this morning at 6:30am to feed the babies and it was really dark. During their feed though it got much darken and then the heavens opened. To say this dampened my expectation of Sunday was an understatement, but surprisingly it has ended up being quite a nice day, after the rain cleared up. In fact I was feeling so good that I got the babies dressed and applied some suntan lotion on them and took them for a nice walk, which included going to the park. Sherri was still languising in bed, but she deserved a lie in, so I didn't disturb her. All in all, a really good morning, especially when I had my F1 race to watch as well.

So the weekend is nearly over. My liver had a long discussion with me this week and we decided to steer clear of the booze for a while. I've probably done it a bit to excess over the last few weeks, what with my holiday and the christening. Just some more wine to quaff later and then no more buying booze for the house, although having a beer or two out is fine. I think I'll next buy a 24 when the hockey starts in October.

Anyway I'm going to wrap up and go outside to get some sun. I also need to read up on how to create a DVD from the video I imported into my Mac.... although writing the DVD will have to wait until my PC is fixed as that is the only machine with a DVD writer. S'laters.

Wotcha Cous!

My cousin Cathy and her husband Mervyn came to visit last night. They actually called while I was still at work and said they wanted to go to the Byward Market first and then come onto us. I did offer to pick them up, but they weren't having none of that :-)

Anyway they arrived about 7:30pm last night. The babies had been in bed for about 15 minutes, so I took them up to see Sarah and Lucy. They fussed a bit, but soon went back to sleep. It's nice to see some of my family, after not having seen any since my Mum came over when the babies were born.

It's funny I always say how my aunt Elsie (Cathy's Mum) looks more like my Nan. Well Cathy is beginning to look like my Aunt Elsie. Apparently I'm looking more like my Dad, but with more hair LOL

It's funny, but seeing family you haven't see in a while is always a blast. You always seem to find out things you never knew before. The hardest thing is when you start reminiscing and you suddenly realise your not a youngster anymore. Oh well old age is all in the mind, apart from the odd crack or two.

Cathy and Mervyn stayed till just before midnight I think. They are taking a tour of downtown Ottawa today and we're hoping to see them this afternoon, so they can have a swim and maybe Mervyn and me can have a few beers while the girls go out shopping. They we'll probably round off the night with a nice barbecue, mmmmm. I do loves me barbecues.

Tomorrow they are off to Toronto, to see their Son Thomas and his wife Annika and I think they are spending a few days there and then it's back home.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's Off To Work I Go!

And here I am, rested and raring to get back to work. Actually I could do with another week or two off, but someone has to go out and bring in the bacon :-) I have a stack of stuff to do, as I've not been doing anything on the computer during my holiday. My PC is still not working. I managed to get a new power supply for it, but alas it's not the power supply, that is at fault. From what I can diagnose it's the stick of memory I have in, that as somehow failed. As soon as I can get another stick to test, I shall, until then it's just me, my laptop and this Apple Mac, keeping the world up to date on my progress.

Last week was a hoot. For anyone who didn't know, last Sunday was Sarah and Lucy's christening. The whole ceremony went very well, and a Dad couldn't be more proud of his little girls. The night before we had a small gathering, which included a barbecue and lots to drink. After the chritening was a bit more laid back, as the people who had come from out of town had to either drive home later that day, or catch flights to Nova Scotia or Toronto. I vastly over estimated the amount of alcohol need, but hey, who am I to complain :-)

My in-laws also went home on Tuesday, so the houshold was back to it's relatively quiet pace. The weather however took a decided turn for the worst, so I'm not been in the pool much in the last few days.

I have a ton of pictures downloaded from my camera, however they are on my laptop and the wireless network card in that is awful, so I might have to bring the laptop down into the dungeon and connect it by wire to the network. By hook, or by crook I shall have some new pictures up on the website soon, but before that I'll be sending out a selection of pics to my usual email list.

Anyway time to wrap up and get on with some stuff. I hope this finds you all well and I hope to get back on to a more regular schedule when I get back to work on Monday.

Sun, Pool and Se....... Beer!

Well I couldn't have asked for better weather on my holidays. Yesterday was a scorcher. I may have had a little too much sun, but oh well, what the hell. I'm being a bit more conservative today though, but I'll be back out there and in the pool when the babies are in bed for their afternoon feed.

Sherri is currently having a facial, pedicure and manicaure along with her Mum, so I image they'll be home when the concrete sets..... (No please honey, don't hit me again! LOL )

...Babies have now had their bottle and been fed lunch, so it's just a matter of time before I can throw my bod into the nice cool pool.

Even though I'm holiday I still have a couple of things to do. First the car is in need of a service. The "Oil Change" light has been on for a while and it really irritates me. I also need to figure out what to do about my main computer. I can either pick up a new power supply and try to fix it myself, or I can just take it somewhere to be repaired. Meanwhile I'm typing this on my laptop, so I don;t have to go into the pit of the house. Actually it's not that bad, as the girls have finally tidied it up.

Anyway I'm going to go and amuse my children and see if I can wear them out a bit quicker.
